TIME & SPACE VISUALISER

Wonderful Books — 120 pages — print — art book

In this, the first commercially published title from Wonderful Books, Paul Smith examines the story and history of Doctor Who through a series of eye-catching data visualisations. This is the show like you've never seen it before, using charts and diagrams to present a wealth of information that's usually only available as numbers and lists. With detailed notes discussing the context of the data, how it was compiled and what it reveals.

DR WHO 8th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL

Self-published — 36 pages — print — fanzine

For my follow-up to The Wonderful Book, I produced this homage to the Radio Times 1973 Dr Who 10th Anniversary Special, again mimicking the design but with fresh content covering the modern series of Doctor Who. This time I commissioned comment pieces and artwork from other fans to add more diversity, rather than having it all written by me. The printed magazine is available to buy from the link below.

THE BARRY NEWBERY SIGNATURE COLLECTION

Telos Publishing — 96 pages — print — photo book

This book presents an extensive collection from Barry Newbery's personal collection of photographs of his set designs for Doctor Who — most published for the very first time — with insights into his ideas, influences and accomplishments in his own words. See Ancient Egypt, Renaissance Italy, volcanic Tigus, distant Karn and more exotic locations come to life through Barry's meticulous and inventive designs.

THE WONDERFUL BOOK OF DR WHO 1965

Self-published — 56 pages — e-zine and print — humour

An homage to BBC Books' The Brilliant Book of Doctor Who 2011, this takes the same approach to content and mimics the design in looking at this original first year of Doctor Who. A mix of factual and fictional notes about each episode, plus tongue-in-cheek behind-the-scenes features and interviews, written as if the book had been published for Christmas 1964. Initially published online, a small number of print copies were produced, with a second print run now available.
